Definition of hybrid supercapacitor: A type of supercapacitor in which one pole uses traditional battery electrodes and stores and converts energy through electrochemical reactions, while the other pole stores energy through a double layer. Supercapacitors refer to a new type of energy storage device that lies between traditional capacitors and rechargeable batteries. They not only have the characteristics of fast charging and discharging of capacitors, but also have the energy storage characteristics of batteries.

Recently, the developed hybrid supercapacitor HUC has successfully completed mass production testing.

Hybrid supercapacitors are a hot topic in capacitor research. During the charging and discharging process of supercapacitors, the energy storage mechanisms of the positive and negative electrodes are different, so they have the dual characteristics of double-layer capacitors and batteries. The charging and discharging speed, power density, internal resistance, cycle life, and other performance of hybrid supercapacitors are mainly determined by the battery electrodes. At the same time, the volume and concentration of the electrolyte will change during the charging and discharging process.

Hybrid supercapacitors have the characteristics of long lifespan and high power density, but their low energy density has always been a technical bottleneck that they have struggled to overcome. The developed hybrid supercapacitor HUC perfectly integrates the characteristics of supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries, while possessing the dual advantages of high energy density and high power density. The energy density is 80-160Wh/kg, the power density is 6-12kW/kg, and the charging and discharging rate is 30-150C. It also solves the low-temperature charging and discharging capacity and safety issues of lithium-ion batteries, successfully achieving discharge at -35 ° C and 10C. Thanks to the introduction of the scientific principles of supercapacitors and the construction of a new material system, the lifespan of hybrid supercapacitors can be significantly improved to over 50000 times compared to lithium-ion batteries, solving the defect of low energy density of supercapacitors and the problems of low power density and low charge discharge rate of lithium-ion batteries. It maintains the performance advantages of low internal resistance, long lifespan, and wide temperature range (-40-65 ℃), greatly expanding the application scenarios.

It can be widely used in the field of electric energy storage. This project is based on supercapacitor energy storage, which can achieve functions such as active power support, reactive power support, harmonic control, virtual synchronization, and voltage sag control. The HUC energy storage system has obvious advantages such as high cost-effectiveness, high safety, and a wide temperature range, with a "millisecond response" speed and a "second minute" demand scenario. It plays an important role in improving the quality of new energy access, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid, and ensuring the quality of electricity consumption.
